The S.A.L.T. Council is a local senior advisory council made up of representatives from seniors groups in the community. This council has representatives from local law enforcement in an advisory capacity.
S.A.L.T. Council's goal is to reduce the criminal victimization of older persons. It serves all seniors in Tarrant County, Texas.
S.A.L.T. sponsors an annual conference that has drawn approximately 2,000 Seniors over the past 10 years. The 2010 conference was held in Hurst, Texas with several hundred people attending. The S.A.L.T. Council, in partnership with local law enforcement agencies, explore senior issues such as crime prevention, senior health care issues and senior assistance. Through these conferences, S.A.L.T. Council can provide information that affects seniors today and in the future.
S.A.L.T. COUNCIL meets the first Tuesday of every month - except December. Meetings take place at Trinity Terrace in the Parlor at 1600 Texas St., Fort Worth, 76102. Meetings start at 2:00pm.
Executive Board Members are Bob Bryson and Del Dilburn. Current S.A.L.T. Board Members are President, Martha Mabry; Vice President, Tricia Spurrier; Treasurer, Jo Lambert; and Secretary, Shelly Young.
S.A.L.T. and the Community
In October, S.A.L.T. provided 18 cell phones to the Meals-On-Wheels team in Arlington to be distributed to some of their house bound clientele. The cell phones are refurbished and distributed to a senior citizen at no charge. It is a 501(C)3 Charity.
